Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(MANREGA) Details
An initiative established by the Ministry of Rural Development aims to ensure a minimum of 100 days of guaranteed wage employment each financial year for every rural household whose adult members are willing to engage in unskilled labor. Any Indian citizen aged 18 years or older and residing in a rural area is eligible to apply for this program. Applicants are assured of receiving employment within 15 days from the submission of their application.
Wages are directly credited to the applicant’s Bank Account or Post Office Account. Payments are typically made within a week, with a maximum delay of fifteen days. Both men and women receive equal remuneration. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is applicable throughout the country, excluding districts with a fully urban population.

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MANREGA) have some benefits. The benefits list are as follows:
- Applicants are assured of employment within 15 days from their application date, with work ideally located within a 5-kilometer radius of their residence, or within the Block. If the distance exceeds 5 kilometers, a travel and subsistence allowance equivalent to 10% of the minimum wage will be provided.
- Wages are disbursed within a week, or a maximum of fifteen days, ensuring equal pay for both men and women. Essential amenities such as shade, drinking water, and first-aid are available at all worksites.
- Special initiatives are implemented to enhance the participation of individuals with disabilities, including the identification of appropriate job roles, mobilization through awareness campaigns, and the provision of specific tasks suited for disabled persons in larger groups.
- Preference is given to appointing them in supportive roles, such as managing drinking water and crèches at worksites, while ensuring respectful treatment and a commitment to providing 100 days of employment for their households, along with a uniquely colored job card.
- Senior citizens are given particular consideration through the formation of dedicated groups, where tasks requiring less physical exertion are identified and assigned to them.
- Additionally, internally displaced persons will receive a special job card that remains valid until they return to their original residences, at which point it will become invalid.

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(MANREGA) Apply Process
Online Process
- The UMANG App can be downloaded, or alternatively, the website https://web.umang.gov.in/web_new/home can be accessed. Citizens may log in using their mobile number and an OTP.
- After successfully logging in, citizens should search for MGNREGA and select the option to “Apply for Job Card.”
- Users are required to complete the basic information, select their preferred pension payment method, upload a photograph, and then click on “Submit.”
Online Apply Via Common Service Center
- Individuals should have the opportunity to register at various locations, including the Community Service Centre (CSC), where the operator will assist in completing the application form and submit it to the relevant Gram Panchayat (GP) for further processing.
- The State Government will provide the necessary directives to facilitate this process.
- Registration will be available year-round at the Gram Panchayat (GP) office.
- Any adult member of the household is permitted to submit the application for registration on behalf of the household.
Offline Process
Step 1 :
- Individuals seeking registration may submit their application on plain paper to the local Gram Panchayat. They can also appear in person before the Panchayat Secretary or Gram Rozgar Sahayak to make an oral request for registration.
- In such cases, the necessary details will be recorded by the Gram Rozgar Sahayak or the Panchayat Secretary. The application must include the names of adult household members willing to engage in unskilled manual labor.
- Required information includes age, gender, SC/ST status, Rashtriya Swastha Bima Yojana (RSBY) number, Aadhar number, Below Poverty Line (BPL) status, and bank or post office account number if applicable.
Step 2: The Gram Panchayat (GP) will verify the following information:
- Confirmation of the household’s existence as stated in the application.
- Verification that the applicant household consists of local residents within the Gram Panchayat.
- Assurance that the applicants are adult members of the household.
The verification process will be completed as promptly as possible, and no later than two weeks after the application is received by the Gram Panchayat.
Step 3:
- All details of households deemed eligible after verification will be recorded in the Management Information System (NREGASoft) by the Panchayat Secretary, Gram Rozgar Sahayak (GRS), or an authorized representative from the State Government.
Step 4:
- If a household is confirmed as eligible for registration, the GP will issue a Job Card (JC) within two weeks of the application.
- The JC will be presented to a member of the applicant household in the presence of several other local residents.

- Registrations will be accepted year-round at the Gram Panchayat (GP) office.
- Any adult member of the household may submit the application for registration on behalf of the household.
Documents Required

- Image of Applicant Name, along with the Age and Gender of all NREGA
- Job Card Applicants from the household Name of Village, Gram Panchayat, Block.
- Verification of Identity (Ration card, Voter ID Card, Aadhaar, PAN).
- Information regarding the applicant’s status as a beneficiary of SC / ST / Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) / Land Reform (LR).
- Sample Signature / Thumb impression.
