Disability Relief Allowance Scheme Details
The Disability Relief Allowance Scheme, administered by the Department of Social Justice in Himachal Pradesh, offers financial support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in managing their living expenses and enhancing their overall quality of life.
Key Features:
Monthly Allowance: Qualified individuals are entitled to receive a monthly financial allowance, which may differ based on the severity of the disability and other relevant factors.
Purpose: This allowance is designed to aid in covering daily living expenses and medical costs associated with the disability.
The scheme is specifically aimed at Persons with Disabilities who possess a permanent disability certificate indicating a disability of 40% or greater, issued by a Medical Board in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Eligible individuals must not have any adult children, and their total annual income from all sources must not exceed ₹35,000. The Disability Percentage Certificate provided by the Medical Authority remains valid for the approval of the Disability Relief Allowance, even if the multi-disability is certified at 40% or higher, as per the guidelines established by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, for the assessment and certification of various disabilities. Additionally, individuals with intellectual disabilities and those with a disability percentage of 70% or more are eligible for pensions without any income restrictions.
Disability Relief Allowance Scheme Benefits
The following assistance offered is as follows:
- Pensioners with a disability rating between 40% and 69% will receive ₹1150 per month.
- Pensioners with a disability rating of 70% or higher will receive ₹1700 per month.
- Pensioners aged 70 years or older with a disability will receive ₹1500 per month.
Disability Relief Allowance Scheme Eligibility
There are some eligibility criteria for eligible for this scheme. It is as follows:
- The individual applying must reside in Himachal Pradesh.
- Additionally, the applicant is required to have at least a 40% disability.
- Furthermore, the applicant should not be in receipt of any other pension or allowance from either the state or central government.
Disability Relief Allowance Scheme Apply Process
Offline Process
Eligible candidates who have completed the application form and included the necessary documents may apply for the scheme by visiting the nearest block development office or district welfare office.
Upon submission of the application form, the applicant will receive a receipt. The department will review the application, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the department, the allowance may be disbursed.

Important note: Individuals with a disability of 70% or greater, or a mental disability of 40% or greater, are exempt from providing the income certificate and Gram Sabha endorsement.
